A successful design of a heap leach operation requires a complete understanding of the physical, hydrometallurgical and hydrodynamic nature of the ore. Our approach relies on specially designed laboratory tests to determine the physical and hydrodynamic properties of an ore for leach. Experience worldwide shows that:
- Ore bulk density controls the hydrodynamic performance of the ore.
- Hydrodynamic performance, in turn, controls operational conditions and metallurgical performance of the heap.
- In addition, hydrodynamic performance influences geotechnical behavior of the ore mass.
- The hydrodynamic properties of the ore are defined by ore management practices (crushing, agglomeration, agglomeration additives and mode of stacking)
